About

PlanetTesla is a site for enthusiasts of Battery Electric technology.

Our inspiration came from the company Tesla Motors who were the first company to bring to market a battery electric car that we'd really like to own. I'm not forgetting the other pioneering companies in this field like AC Propulsion, Th!nk and even GM but Tesla's co-founder Martin Eberhard was the first to say "Yes, it's $92,000 but you can make that more with options." What he was saying was that it was okay to be expensive, that this isn't cheap technology but we want and need it and we're fools if we think that it can be done on the cheap for everyone right now. But that's where we're heading and this is but an early rung on that R&D ladder.

Hailing from the UK originally, "I've seen $4/gallon petrol (gas) nearly ten years ago so I know what has to give to fit the desires of a petrol-head into a modern, green lifestyle."

Michael has worked in technology all of his life but with a grounding in the automotive industry.

"I know that we all like the idea of owning a farm vehicle (SUV) but we have to figure out a way to do it responsibly both in terms of fuel consumption and simply being able to park it at the local shopping mall with enough room to get out."
